WISH Summit

There is currently a Women's International Summit for Health (WISH) taking place online. I just came across it yesterday, and have spent the evening enjoying the talks. Signing up is free, and you can download audio files to put on your iPod to listen to at a later time.
The link is : http://www.wishsummit.com/speakers The topics are quite diverse and include health, fitness, wellness, inspiration for women.

I hope you enjoy the talks as much as I do!

  1. Just listening to the first session with Carol Look and enjoying it. One interesting thing that comes to mind is the variety of discourses that exist in society that also contribute to feeling stuck and unmotivated. By discourses, I am referring to the stories that are circulated within a society . Often, these stories are limited to a very narrow account of experience but they have a huge impact on what we decide to do or not do and how we think of things. For example we hold onto the messages we hear regarding a variety of topics such as what it means to be a good mother, a good student ect. Often these stories are simple and do not account for the many stories that could be. As a result sometimes we need to look within and trust in the variety of stories that exist. You can check out a great Ted Talk by Chimamanda Adichie about this called "The Danger of the Single Story" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9Ihs241zeg
